Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Arrival in Kathmandu

    After arriving in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, our representative will be there to meet you and guide you to your hotel. Relax with a short trip around the hectic Kathmandu city where you will have your first introduction to the Nepalese culture.

    Check into your hotel and freshen up after the journey. In the evening, you can take part in a tour briefing session held at the hotel.

  • Day 2
    Tour of Kathmandu

    After having breakfast, you will leave for a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. You will visit the famous Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best tourist attractions in Kathmandu. The square houses some of the finest palaces and temples along with amazing wooden carvings.v

    The next place of visit is Patan Durbar Square, another masterpiece, which contains some of the ancient temples and courtyards along with workshops of local artisans.

  • Day 3
    Flight to Pokhara – Trek to Sanctuary Lodge

    Leave after breakfast from your hotel in Kathmandu to reach the airport for an exciting 25- minute flight to Pokhara. Once there, our guides and porters will take you by vehicle to the trek departure point, a journey of around 1 hour.

    Start your trek from the destination point to Sanctuary Lodge (1,098 m), which takes 3-4 hours. It is a moderate trek with stunning natural scenery and fascinating villages. Tonight you can enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in the lodge.

  • Day 4
    Walk from the Modi River Valley to the Himalaya Lodge in Ghandruk (1,950 m)

    The journey starts from the hotel in the morning with the breathtaking Modi River Valley walk. You may enjoy the scenic beauty and peace in the valley. There is an uphill trek on the way to the mountains through rice terrace farms and the forest as well.

    During the day, you may have snacks on the way. On reaching your destination, the Himalaya Lodge, in Ghandruk in the late afternoon, a hot lunch is prepared for you. The Himalaya Lodge offers you amazing and closer looks of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre mountain ranges.

  • Day 5
    Visit Ghandruk - Himalaya Lodge Accommodation (1,950m)

    Rise early to enjoy an exciting day with a warm cup of tea or coffee amidst lush greenery while viewing the magnificent sunrise over the Annapurna range of himalaya mountains, comprising Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

    Relish the amazing view after a healthy breakfast at the lodge. Go out on an excursion to visit the beautiful Ghandruk village, one of the most beautiful villages in the Annapurna region. Understand the cultural significance and tradition of the Gurungs, since the village is considered to be famous for the recruitment of the Gurkhas.

    Explore the village and the surroundings of Ghandruk and experience the traditional lifestyle and craftsmanship of the villagers. Appreciate the skillful technique used by the local women to make authentic Nepali rugs.

    Mountain Trek

  • Day 6
    Mala Lodge, Majgaon (1,400 m)

    After having breakfast at Himalaya Lodge, start your downward walk passing through the beautiful village of Ghandruk. While on the track, you will come across several buffaloes and goats eating grass along with donkeys and mules carrying loads of cargo through the mountains.

    On your way, you might cross paths with other trekkers who are either on their way to or returning back from Annapurna Sanctuary Trekking, giving you a more fun-filled trekking experience. You can walk for around 2–3 hours before reaching Shauli Bazaar, a tiny riverside settlement.

    From there onwards, walk ahead for several hours to finally reach your destination of the day: Mala Lodge, Majgaon (1,400 m). Nestled in the peaceful countryside scenery, the lodge is an ideal spot for you to rest after a long day’s trekking adventure.

  • Day 7
    Trek to Basanta Lodge, Dhampus (1,550 m)

    Start your trek today after breakfast, walking through the tranquil village of Patlekhet. The trails lead you through the forested region where orchids, rhododendrons, and magnolias are abundant. This section of the trek provides great scenery along with cultural insight and nature walks.

    During your walk, take a break in the pretty village of Pothana which is inhabited by the small group of Tibetan traders selling unique craft items and other souvenirs. On arrival at Basanta Lodge in Dhampus (1,550 m), end your day’s trek after covering a distance of 31⁄2 hours on the trails.

    From the lodge, admire the beautiful panoramic view of the Annapurna ranges that make up one of the most spectacular sights of the trek. You can spend an afternoon relaxing with a visit to the traditional village of Dhampus.

  • Day 8
    End Trek – Drive to Pokhara

    After enjoying an early breakfast, embark on your last trek on the ridge trail walking downhill through dense wooded hills and farming terrains to end your amazing trekking tour of Annapurna Lowlands.

    From the roadhead, travel to Pokhara through road transport for 30 minutes of travel time. Pokhara is a lakeside city that offers amazing mountain views and a relaxing environment.

    Optional activities include visiting the Tibetan refugee camp along the way, which allows for visiting the monasteries and purchasing traditional crafts.

  • Day 9
    Fly Back to Kathmandu (25min)

    Return Flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu

    Post-breakfast, you will be escorted to the Pokhara domestic airport and boarded on a flight that takes 25 minutes to reach Kathmandu. While flying, you will get mesmerizing views of the snow-capped Himalayas.

    After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be received by our representatives who will escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day will be at your leisure.

  • Day 10
    Leaving Kathmandu

    Relish your last breakfast and depart Nepal with fond memories of its amazing landscape and majestic Himalayas. Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, will be arranged on time by our representative.

    Leave Kathmandu with great memories and the magnificent experience of the Himalayas.

Do's & Don'ts

NHV next heartily welcomes all of our valued guests. Either you are trekking in the mountains or touring the Kathmandu valley we suggest you that you treat the land and its people with care and respect. Below are some tips on how you can keep the environment clean and show appreciation for age-old culture and traditional religious beliefs. Nepal's Culture might be astonishing and surprising for newcomers therefore these tips are sometimes necessary.

  • To show gratitude and respect, use both of your hands rather than one when giving or receiving something, even money. It’s seen as a gesture of respect.
  • Remember not to point with a single finger but use a flat extended hand especially to indicate a sacred object or place.
  • Among Hindus, avoid touching women and holy men. In Nepal, people especially women, do not normally shake hands when they greet one another, but instead press palms together in a prayer-like gesture known as "Namaste" greeting is preferable.
  • Do not eat with your left hand.
  • Never eat beef in front of Hindus and Buddhist because beef is strictly prohibited among both Hindus and Buddhists. Cows are sacred in Nepal.
  • Try not to step over or point your feet at another person, a sacred place or a heart.
  • Remove your shoes when entering a home, temple or monastery and leather items in Hindu temples and avoid smoking and wearing scant dress in religious settings.
  • Remember, some of the temples entrance may be prohibited for non-Hindus.
  • It is better not to touch offerings or persons when they are on way to shrines, especially if you are non-Hindu.
  • Do not offer food to a Nepalese after tasting it, nor eat from a common pot, and avoid touching your lips to a shared drinking vessel.
  • The sight of men holding hands is common, but men and women holding hands, and general acts of affection, are frowned upon. Do not do something that is totally alien to Nepalese culture.
  • Do walk around Stupas clockwise, so that the outer walls are always on your right. If you encounter a stone wall covered with Tibetan inscriptions, do the same: Walk past with the wall on your right (and don't take any of the stones).
  • Do not lose your cool. Raising your voice or shouting is seen as extremely bad manners in Nepal too and will only make any problem worse.
  • Do get a receipt of in authenticity when purchasing an antique replica. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to take it out of the country. And do not buy ivory or fur from endangered species. Your purchases encourage the trade in such illegal goods, and you would not be allowed to bring them back home anyway.
  • Do not give in to children who ask for just one rupee. Although a rupee is a small amount that anyone can spare, successful begging leads young children to drop out of school and take up panhandling as their trade. If you want to help, give to a trustworthy charity or a school.
  • Do not take photographs of locals, holy shrines and temples unless they have clearly given their consent.
