The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderate trekking experience through some of the most beautiful landscapes. This trek starts at Phedi, which is just a short drive away from Pokhara. This beautiful trek takes you to the base camp of the majestic Annapurna (4,130 m), which is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.

The trekking trail passes through villages where the Gurung, Magar, and Thakali people live. This trekking experience offers the opportunity to experience the hospitality of the Nepalese people. As the trekking experience progresses, the trail passes through the beautiful landscapes of the Rhododendron forests and the beautiful landscapes of the Himalayas.

As the trekking experience progresses, the beauty of the landscapes increases, and the trekking trail leads to the Annapurna Sanctuary, which is surrounded by the majestic Himalayas. As the trekking experience comes to an end, the trekking trail passes through Ghorepani, where the experience of watching the sunrise from the top of Poon Hill is simply breathtaking. As the sun rises, the first rays of the sun reflect off the majestic Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

The trekking experience is at its best in the spring season when the Rhododendron forests are in full bloom, adding more beauty to the trekking experience. This trekking experience is available throughout the year except in the monsoon season, which starts in July and ends in August.

  • Day 1
    Arrival in Kathmandu

    Arriving in Kathmandu is an exciting experience that marks the beginning of your Annapurna Base Camp trekking adventure. On arrival, if the weather is favorable, you will be able to see breathtaking views of the Himalayas. This is your first exposure to the natural beauty that Nepal has to offer.

    After arriving at the airport, our representative and driver will receive you and transport you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Upon checking in at the hotel, you will be provided with an overview of your trekking program, including information regarding your journey to the Annapurna region.

  • Day 2
    Sightseeing Tour

    After breakfast, it is time for a guided sightseeing tour around the city. This will be an opportunity to see some of the most important cultural and historical sites in and around Kathmandu. The first place to visit will be Kathmandu Durbar Square, known for its ancient temples and palaces. The architecture in this place is also very beautiful and reflects Nepal’s rich cultural heritage.

    Next, visit Swayambhunath Stupa, which is said to be one of the oldest and most sacred Buddhist sites. This is also the place from which you will be able to see panoramic views of the valley. The final place to visit in this tour will be Patan Durbar Square, known for its beautiful temples and beautiful carvings.

  • Day 3
    Fly to Pokhara / Trek to Dhampus (1,700 m)

    Today marks the beginning of your Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The day starts with a scenic flight to Pokhara. The flight takes around 45 minutes and provides breathtaking views of the Himalayan range. Once the flight lands in Pokhara, the first thing that greets your eyes is the breathtaking view of the Annapurna range.

    A short drive to Phedi takes us to the starting point of our trek. The trek starts with a gradual climb through green hills and villages. The route provides an ideal introduction to the Annapurna region. After walking for around 3 hours, we reach the village of Dhampus at an altitude of 1,700 m. The village is inhabited by the Gurung community and is known for its tranquil environment.

  • Day 4
    Trek to Landrung (1550m).

    After having breakfast, you continue your trek to Annapurna Base Camp via a picturesque route that takes you through a gentle walk along a ridge. During your trek, you can get to see some wonderful views of the Modi Kola River valley, along with the natural beauty of the surrounding areas, as you pass through Pothana and Deorali villages.

    While you trek ahead, you can experience a variety of trekking routes, both through the forest and in the open, making your trekking experience all the more interesting. After 4 hours of trekking, you can arrive at Landrung, a beautiful Gurung village.

  • Day 5
    Trek to Chomrong (2,170 m)

    The day's journey begins from Landrung via a beautiful mountain trail of stone steps through villages and across a suspension bridge. You will then enter a dense bamboo forest, which offers an opportunity to experience nature in its solitude.

    On your way, take some rest and refreshments at Jhinu teahouses and then move forward. Next, your journey will take you through Daaulu. After five hours of trekking, you will arrive in the beautiful village of Chomrong (2,170 m).

  • Day 6
    Trek to Himalaya Hotel (2,850 m)

    From Chomrong, cross the Chomrong Khola, and your trek continues on steep stone steps through rhododendron-covered ridges, mountainous terrains, and bamboo forests, which offer a rich Himalayan experience.

    On your way, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Annapurna ranges, including Machhapuchre, which offer both inspiration and motivation for your climb. After trekking for about five hours, you cross Modi Khola, Khuldigar, Bamboo, Dovan, and finally arrive at Himalaya Hotel, where you can rest for the night.

    At Himalaya Hotel

    This day is a complete rest day at Himalaya Hotel, giving you an opportunity to rest and recharge your energies for the days of trekking ahead.

  • Day 8
    Trek to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m)

    Today’s trek will take you to the famous Machhapuchhre Base Camp, which is one of the major attractions of the Annapurna region. The trail involves steep ascents and descents along zigzag stone trails while moving towards Hinku Cave. After 3-4 hours of trekking, you will reach the Annapurna Sanctuary, which is a huge amphitheater surrounded by snow-capped mountains including Annapurna I, II, III, IV, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Mountain. During the course of your trek, you will also pass through Deorali and Bagar villages, where you can find lodges and inns to stay and eat. The day’s trek ends at the grassy moraine of Machhapuchhre Base Camp, where you can find lodges to stay and eat a warm and hygienic meal while enjoying the views of the majestic mountains.

  • Day 9
    Trek to Annapurna South Base Camp (4130m)

    Today, you will be trekking for approximately 2 hours along the Annapurna Circuit Trail, where you will descend a small ridge and find yourself amidst mountainsides that are dotted with terraced fields, meadows, and farming lands. Once you arrive at the Annapurna South Base Camp, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and the unique Himalayan cultural landscape that is nestled in the southern slopes of the Annapurna massif. The trek then descends to the Himalaya Hotel for your overnight stay.

  • Day 10
    Trek to Chomrong (2100m)

    The day’s trek starts through a forested ridge with stunning views of the majestic Annapurna Hills. Along the way, it gradually opens into a grassy hillside which descends through rocky terrain to the Kali Gandaki River, which is also known to be the world’s deepest gorge and of great bio-geographical significance. Along the way, it is possible to see the Modi Khola River, which passes through dense rhododendron and bamboo forests with stunning views of the Annapurna range. After 5 hours of trekking, we arrive in Chomrong, which is a beautiful village with chalet-style wooden lodges and stunning views of Machhapuchhare.

  • Day 11
    Trek to Ghandruk (1940M)

    We will take an alternative route back to Pokhara from Chomrong. This route passes through Ghorepani. During your journey through flatland, forest, and fields, you will be greeted by a suspension bridge. While crossing this suspension bridge over Khumnu Khola, you will reach the beautiful village of Ghandruk in 3 to 4 hours. On this trek, you will get to see unique culture, tradition, and custom of the people belonging to Gurung community. The trekking route passes through many hotels and teahouses. Ghandruk offers magnificent views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, and Machhapuchhre. The terraced fields for camping are really exciting and adventurous.

  • Day 12
    Trek to Banthanti (2410m)

    Leaving the terraced fields behind at Ghandruk, the route now climbs steeply through dense rhododendron woods along a zigzagging trail. On the way, you will reach Tadapani, which offers panoramic views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. After 3 hours of trekking, you will reach Banthanti, where you will be able to relax and soak in the serenity of nature.

  • Day 13
    Trek to Ghorepani (2880m)

    Today, the trail begins from Banthanti and continues along the steep mountain trails, surrounded by lush vegetation and majestic views of snow-capped mountains. The trail goes through dense rhododendron forests and finally reaches Deorali (3100m), passing through a small village and fields. After 3 hours of walking, you reach Ghorepani, a picturesque village with cozy lodges and food available for trekkers, making it an ideal place to rest and enjoy the majestic views of the Himalayas.

  • Day 14
    Trek to Nayapul, then drive to Pokhara

    Today's hike begins early from Ghorepani, and the breathtaking view of the sunrise from Poon Hill (3195m), overlooking Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak, and other mighty Himalayan peaks, will be a memorable experience. The descent from Poon Hill begins, and you will trek through thick forests and villages, passing through Ulleri and its challenging stone steps, before reaching Hille, where the Bhurungdi Khola river flows. Further descent leads to Birethanti, a charming village along the Modi River, and then onto the main highway, where a vehicle awaits to take you to Pokhara, marking the end of your trek after a day's hike of approximately 6 hours.

  • Day 15
    Drive Back to Kathmandu (210 km / 6–7 hrs.)

    After breakfast, we will start our journey back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. While on the way, we will enjoy the scenic beauty of rivers, fields, and hills. As we arrive at Kathmandu, we check into the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. We can either go shopping at Thamel or simply relax at the hotel. This is the last opportunity to experience the capital of Nepal.

    Departure

    After having breakfast at the hotel, we will drop you at the airport for your onward flight. We ensure that you depart from Kathmandu with memories that will be cherished forever. We hope that your experience in Nepal’s mountains is unforgettable. This is the conclusion of your wonderful trekking experience.

Do's & Don'ts

Either you are trekking in the mountains or touring the Kathmandu valley we suggest you that you treat the land and its people with care and respect. Below are some tips on how you can keep the environment clean and show appreciation for age-old culture and traditional religious beliefs. Nepal's Culture might be astonishing and surprising for newcomers therefore these tips are sometimes necessary.

  • To show gratitude and respect, use both of your hands rather than one when giving or receiving something, even money. It’s seen as a gesture of respect.
  • Remember not to point with a single finger but use a flat extended hand especially to indicate a sacred object or place.
  • Among Hindus, avoid touching women and holy men. In Nepal, people especially women, do not normally shake hands when they greet one another, but instead press palms together in a prayer-like gesture known as "Namaste" greeting is preferable.
  • Do not eat with your left hand.
  • Never eat beef in front of Hindus and Buddhist because beef is strictly prohibited among both Hindus and Buddhists. Cows are sacred in Nepal.
  • Try not to step over or point your feet at another person, a sacred place or a heart.
  • Remove your shoes when entering a home, temple or monastery and leather items in Hindu temples and avoid smoking and wearing scant dress in religious settings.
  • Remember, some of the temples entrance may be prohibited for non-Hindus.
  • It is better not to touch offerings or persons when they are on way to shrines, especially if you are non-Hindu.
  • Do not offer food to a Nepalese after tasting it, nor eat from a common pot, and avoid touching your lips to a shared drinking vessel.
  • The sight of men holding hands is common, but men and women holding hands, and general acts of affection, are frowned upon. Do not do something that is totally alien to Nepalese culture.
  • Do walk around Stupas clockwise, so that the outer walls are always on your right. If you encounter a stone wall covered with Tibetan inscriptions, do the same: Walk past with the wall on your right (and don't take any of the stones).
  • Do not lose your cool. Raising your voice or shouting is seen as extremely bad manners in Nepal too and will only make any problem worse.
  • Do get a receipt of in authenticity when purchasing an antique replica. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to take it out of the country. And do not buy ivory or fur from endangered species. Your purchases encourage the trade in such illegal goods, and you would not be allowed to bring them back home anyway.
  • Do not give in to children who ask for just one rupee. Although a rupee is a small amount that anyone can spare, successful begging leads young children to drop out of school and take up panhandling as their trade. If you want to help, give to a trustworthy charity or a school.
  • Do not take photographs of locals, holy shrines and temples unless they have clearly given their consent.
